NYC Food Policy Alliance

Committees

The NYC Food Policy Alliance works through a series of standing and ad hoc committees. Standing committees function on a permanent basis, while ad hoc committees are established for a particular purpose on a temporary basis. Each Standing issue-area committee is responsible for providing community input, sharing challenges and opportunities, directing policy priorities and developing strategies to advance the priorities of the Alliance. 2023-2024 committees include: 

Food Assistance & Benefits Access CommitteE

Committee priorities include increased access to fresh, healthy, local affordable food; emergency food system; benefits outreach and access; and more.

Urban Agriculture & youth development CommitteE

Committee priorities include land access; farmer and gardener resources and training; environmental justice; composting; youth voice and leadership opportunities; and more.

Economic development committee

Committee priorities include entrepreneurial and employment opportunities in the food system; food hubs and cooperative models; farmers markets; zoning; value chain; community food infrastructure; and more.

food policy council committee

Ad hoc committee established in 2022 with the goal of laying the groundwork for the establishment of a grassroots-driven NYC Food Policy Council. Learn more here.
